Shrimps, lobsters, crabs etc are all categorized under seafood and have become very popular with people across the globe. Initially these foods were prepared and consumed mainly in the coastal areas but with globalization, it has spread to different parts of the world and has become delicacies. Seafood has a taste of its own and can be prepared in a variety of ways depending on one's taste buds. It could be bland and simply cooked and can be spicy as well. Shrimps can also be prepared with various sauces and condiments.


Here are some simple shrimp recipes that you can cook at home:


1. Barbecue shrimp / lobster


Required ingredients:

Shrimps or lobsters, which are properly shelled
2 teaspoons lemon juice preferably freshly squeezed
Beer
Butter
5-10 cloves of finely minced garlic
3 ribs finely minced celery
Black pepper, as per taste
Cayenne pepper, 4 teaspoons
Chopped parsley 4 tablespoons
Worcester sauce – half cup
Rosemary leaves chopped – 4 tablespoons
Finely minced one medium onion


Procedure:


1.A part of the butter is melted in a skillet.
2.Now sauté the celery, rosemary, onions, garlic, parsley and the seasoning blend. Continue this for about three minutes.
3.Now melt the rest of the butter and add the beer to it.
4.To this mixture Worcester sauce, the sautéed thing and lemon juice is added.
5.The shrimps are dipped and drowned in the above mentioned mixture. If required, you can add more butter to it if the shrimps or lobsters are not totally submerged.
6.Heat the oven to about 350F and bake the shrimps. Bake them for 15-20 minutes till the time they turn pink in color.
7.Take them and serve in a big bowl. Do not forget to put some shrimps and the previously made butter sauce on it.

2. Popcorn Shrimp



This is another recipe that can be a wonderful snack for the evening. The ingredients required are all available in homes and it is a light but tasty snack. Not only that this dish can act as a starter too. Popcorn shrimps can also be served with drinks.


Ingredients:

Small lobster or shrimp, preferably shelled and de-veined
Breadcrumbs as per requirement
Eggs properly beaten in a bowl
Little bit of cayenne pepper
For frying, 2-4 cups of vegetable oil


Procedure:

1.Take a medium size bowl and mix the cayenne pepper and the breadcrumbs.
2.Now take the shrimps and dip in the beaten eggs. Then take the shrimps out and put them into the mixture of the breadcrumbs and cayenne pepper. Be careful and note that each shrimp is evenly coated with the mixture.
3.Now is the time to fry the stuff. Put vegetable oil in a deep frying pan and see that it is heated to 350°F. Add the shrimps and fry till the color of the shrimps change to golden brown.
4.With tissue papers, drain the excess oil from the fries. Serve hot with spicy sauces.
